I have recently changed my iDigi plan to DG Smart Plan. The main reason I changed the call plan was iDigi plan is too expensive for me after the contract has ended. Before the contract end, I paid only RM60+ and now I need to pay RM90+.
I know that the DG SmartPlan is not the most affordable/cheapest plan in the market. I have to stay with Digi because most of my family members are using Digi line/sub-line and I can call/SMS them for free. I have chosen the RM58 package from DG SmartPlan as this is the lowest price one.
What’s DG SmartPlan™ 58 is offering?
Let see what is this plan offering:
- Bundled Internet – 2GB of data but splitted into 1GB for Mobile Internet Quota, which is mainly used for Internet browsing, and 1GB for Smart Apps Quota, which is mainly consumed by the Smart Apps (the Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp). It doesn’t count towards your data quota if you browse Internet using Opera browser. When you have used up all 2GB data, your Internet connection for all applications will be restricted but you still can browse websites using Opera browser.
- Bundled Voice Calls – 200 minutes of free calls monthly but limited to Digi to Digi only. The charges after the free call is 15 cents / minute.
- Bundled SMS – 200 of free SMS monthly. Again, limited to Digi to Digi only. The charges after the free SMS is 10 cents / SMS.
- Bundled MMS – No. You need to pay 20sen / MMS.
- Supplementary lines – FREE 100 Hours of Voice Calls, 3,800 SMS & 3,800 MMS (Up to 6 DG Family™ lines).
- Bill – RM2 / month for standard bill (free if you opt for e-Billing) and optional RM5 / month for itemized bill.
- Bonus Link – You can link you call plan with Bonus Link account so that you can earn 1 point for each ringgit you have spent.
- Contract – The best is, contract free.
Get the most out of the plan
In this plan, the Mobile Internet quota will be the most important one as you may want to reserve it or use it for urgency (like receiving/replying client emails, send Whatsapp text to you family or client). I would normally try to use the Mobile Internet quota as little as possible.
Here are some tips on how you get the most out of the plan:
- Always use the Opera browser in your hand phone to browse websites whenever possible (sometime, some website may not work properly on Opera). The Opera browser is free for download in all phone platforms. When you browse the Internet using Opera, the bandwidth used will not count towards to your Internet quota.
- When you have exceed the Smart Apps quota, your monthly Mobile Internet quota will be utilised for subsequent usage. But if you have used up the Mobile Internet quota, you Internet access will be restricted. So if you are a heavy Facebook user, you can try to use the web version of Facebook using Opera browser. You can use the web version of Twitter too.
- Since sending SMS to other operator is not free, use Whatsapp to send messages whenever possible.
- Download “My Digi” and monitor your Internet quota so that you can plan ahead. You can then decide to turn off applications that use Internet and reserve the quota for more important applications (e.g. Email).
- Sign up Auto Billing for rebates and you can save RM5/month for 6 months.
- Opt for e-Billing so that you don’t need to pay extra RM2/month.
- You don’t need itemized billing because you can view and also download the itemized bill online.
- Link your account with Bonus Link if you have one, you can earn some points from what you have spent. RM1 earns you 1 point.
